Privacy at Megasol

1. Controller and contact

Megasol is operated by Dominik Groß, Austria. For privacy requests, access, or deletion, contact support@megasol.app.

Megasol serves users in the European Union. This policy supplements the privacy information shown on the Apple App Store.

2. Data we process

• Account data: email address, display name, and technical account, device, and member identifiers.
• Financial and app content: expenses, amounts, categories, budgets, notes, recurring payments, household splits, requests, and settlements.
• Receipt AI: photos or screenshots you select, detected merchants, amounts, dates, categories, and technical scan-usage data.
• Purchase data: product identifier, subscription status, period, renewal state, and scan balance. Megasol never receives full card or bank details.
• Technical data: app version, language, error and security information, and data needed to limit automated or abusive scans.

3. Purposes and legal bases

We process data to provide the app, sync your information between devices, support households, analyze receipts, assign purchases, provide support, and protect the service.

Legal bases include performance of a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), legitimate interests in security and abuse prevention (Art. 6(1)(f)), consent for optional device permissions (Art. 6(1)(a)), and compliance with legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).

4. Local use and sync

You can use Megasol locally without an account. This data generally stays on your device and is not synced with the Megasol backend.

When you create or sign in to an account, the app data you choose to sync is linked to your Megasol account and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. Access tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.

5. Receipt AI and images

An image is uploaded only after you explicitly tap Scan. It is sent to the Megasol service and AI provider OpenAI for analysis. Megasol does not keep the uploaded image as a permanent receipt archive; the analysis result and usage events may be stored for balances, replay protection, and abuse prevention.

Upload only images you are allowed to process. Review detected amounts and details before saving because AI results can be inaccurate.

6. Recipients and service providers

Where providers process data outside the EEA, we use applicable safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

• Apple processes App Store purchases, subscriptions, and device information under Apple’s own privacy terms.
• RevenueCat processes pseudonymous account and purchase identifiers to manage subscriptions, entitlements, and paywall events.
• OpenAI processes uploaded receipt images and instructions for Receipt AI analysis.
• Resend processes your email address and delivery information for sign-in codes, magic links, and invitations.
• Hosting and infrastructure providers process encrypted data as needed for operation, database services, security, and delivery.

7. Retention and deletion

Account and synced app data are generally kept while your account exists. Security, billing, and transaction records may be retained longer where required by law.

You can delete your account directly from Profile in the app. This removes the Megasol account and associated cloud data unless legal retention is required. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage it separately in App Store settings.

8. Your rights

To exercise your rights, email support@megasol.app.

• Access, correction, and deletion of your personal data.
• Restriction, data portability, and objection to processing.
• Withdrawal of consent for future processing.
• A complaint with a competent data protection authority, including the Austrian Data Protection Authority.

9. Tracking, advertising, and changes

Megasol does not use personalized advertising or cross-app tracking. This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
